Jakari | 2023

With Jakari, Marlou Rutten and Marieke van de Ven aim to build a bridge between their fields of product and textile design. In collaboration with WEEEF, the duo developed a textile made from paper yarn that explores the synergy between light and material. Jakari is a 3D woven light object that is made directly on the loom. The light unfolds from a flat piece of woven fabric and emphasizes the natural drape of the yarn, giving the lamp a sculptural character.
